Outstanding Conservationist
Each year, the state's SWCDs recognize individuals and organizations for outstanding accomplishments in implementing conservation practices and improving Minnesota's natural resources.

Brian and Gloria Greenslit were honored as outstanding conservationists at the annual meeting of the Minnesota Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (MASWCD). They were selected by the Renville Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) for the award.
Brian and Gloria operate a farming operation that raises corn, soybeans, winter wheat, and peas, while also maintaining many acres of RIM easements. The Greenslits have farmed since 1991 and are 5th-generation farmers. They have incorporated soil health practices by reducing tillage and planting cover crops, as well as enrolling land into conservation easements. They have also incorporated 11 structural practices on their land over the years to mitigate in-field erosion. Over the years, their family has enrolled over 1,100 acres of RIM and CRP. They enjoy watching wildlife and having family and friends hunt the land. They recently brought bees onto their property to further their pollinator efforts. The Greenslits believe conservation efforts honor their forefathers and want to continue generational farming for years to come.
Renville SWCD is proud to honor Brian and Gloria Greenslit for their hard work and dedication to conservation in our county.
